Mohsen Rezai, Secretary of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran, used harsh language toward European countries. In a post on his social media account, Rezai criticized Europe's support for Israel's activities.
Claiming that European countries had previously boasted about Israel's "dirty work," Rezai argued that this stance has consequences. In his post, Rezai stated, "Today, they are complaining that war with Iran is costing them billions. While applauding war crimes, did you not think that the bill for this would also come to you? War and terror have a price. Now it is your turn to pay."
Rezai's statement came at a time when debates regarding Iran and Israel are ongoing in Europe. The statement specifically targeted the political support of European capitals for Israel.
German opposition leader Friedrich Merz had previously used the term "dirty work" when evaluating Israel's activities, saying, "This is the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us." Merz also targeted the Iranian administration, arguing that the regime in Tehran plays a role in many developments in the region.
Merz's remarks also included the following: "This mullah regime has brought death and destruction to the world with its attacks. With Hezbollah, and with Hamas in Israel on October 7. Without the regime in Tehran, this would never have been possible."
