The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it has added the British Royal Navy, the Royal Air Force (RAF), and the foreign intelligence service MI6 to its list of "terrorist and hostile" organizations due to the anti-Iran policies and actions pursued by the UK over the past year.
The Tehran administration announced that the decision is based on regulations adopted by Iran's Supreme National Security Council and has entered into force as of today.
In the ministry's statement, it was argued that the UK's recent steps are inconsistent with the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law. Iran criticized London, specifically citing the lack of respect for national sovereignty and the implementation of "illegal measures" against other states.
Among the reasons for the decision, the ministry also cited the permission granted for the use of military bases and facilities in the UK for activities allegedly conducted against Iran, as well as the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a "threat to national security."
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the measures taken are evaluated within the framework of international law and the principle of reciprocity, declaring that the country is determined to protect its national security and interests.
The statement further expressed that the British government will be held responsible for the consequences of this decision.
