Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in a statement regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz that the process depends on the acceptance of the conditions set forth by Tehran.
According to Iran's official news agency IRNA, Araghchi stated that intense consultation traffic is being conducted with the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan. Stating that Tehran has presented its conditions and plans to the parties, Araghchi expressed that the future outlook depends on the stance of the US.
We have presented our conditions and plans. Everything depends on the political wisdom of the US. If they sincerely choose diplomacy, we are ready, but if they intend to conduct military operations, they will face a response that is heavier and more painful than in the past. The opening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the acceptance of Iran's conditions.
Araghchi argued that the conditions put forward for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz are “clear and transparent.” Stating that if these conditions are accepted, negotiations will resume along with the opening of the strait, Araghchi said that Iran will not take a step back in the event of a contrary development.
The Strait of Hormuz is among the critical routes for energy transportation in the Gulf region. For this reason, statements regarding the strait are closely monitored in terms of regional tension and diplomatic traffic.
