Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei to be buried in Mashhad

The burial site for Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was targeted and killed at his compound in the capital Tehran during Israel and the US's attacks on Iran on Saturday, has been determined.

Iran-based Fars News Agency announced that after the official memorial and funeral ceremonies to be held in Tehran, Khamenei's body will be laid to rest in the city of Mashhad.

It was reported that preparations are underway for a large-scale ceremony with public participation, and that details regarding the date and program of the ceremony will be shared with the public once the approval process is completed.

Khamenei lost his life in an attack on his compound in the capital Tehran during the first hours of the attacks launched by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28.

Khamenei's daughter, son-in-law, grandson, and daughter-in-law also lost their lives in the same attack.
