Macron: Does anyone believe Hamas can be completely destroyed?
French President Macron stated that the Israeli administration needs to define its goals and ultimate objective in Gaza more clearly.
French President Emmanuel Macron questioned Israel's goal of destroying Hamas, signaling that he does not find it convincing.
"IS THE COMPLETE DESTRUCTION OF HAMAS POSSIBLE?"
Attending the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Macron said at a press conference, "We are at a point where the Israeli administration needs to define its goals and ultimate objective more clearly. Does anyone believe that the complete destruction of Hamas is possible? If that is the goal, the war will last 10 years."
EMPHASIS ON 'DOUBLE STANDARDS'
Emphasizing that security achieved at the cost of Palestinian lives will not be lasting for Israel, Macron underscored that while Israel has the right to defend itself, this must be done within the framework of international law and that civilians must not be targeted. Macron stated, "For France, there are no double standards; all lives are equal."
