Malaysia Airlines pilot caught in Jakarta with suitcase full of drugs

A 39-year-old Malaysia Airlines pilot, identified as M.S.O., who was operating the Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta flight, was detained in a drug operation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Indonesia.

The incident reportedly occurred on July 28. Customs officers found the pilot's suitcase suspicious during an X-ray scan upon his arrival from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta. A search of the suitcase revealed a total of 70,114 drug pills weighing 25.2 kilograms across 14 packages. Additionally, 4 grams of methamphetamine were found in the pilot's carry-on bag.

Authorities announced that a urine test conducted as part of the investigation returned positive. Based on this result, it is being evaluated whether the pilot may have performed the flight while under the influence of narcotics.

ALLEGATION OF A THIRD SHIPMENT

According to police sources, the pilot stated in his testimony that he was transporting the drugs to Jakarta under the instructions of another individual. It was reported that the suspect claimed he was promised a payment of 50,000 Malaysian ringgit, approximately 12,000 dollars, in exchange for the shipment.

The investigation also revealed that the pilot confessed to having transported drugs twice before using the same method. Teams further determined that the suspect carried pre-collected clean urine with him in order to bypass random drug tests.

Indonesian authorities stated that a comprehensive investigation into the incident is ongoing.
