Missile and drone attack from Russia on Kyiv: At least 5 dead, 35 injured
According to Ukrainian media, residential buildings, a school, and warehouses were damaged in Kyiv; the Starokozache border crossing on the Moldovan border was also closed following the attack.
At least 5 people were killed and 35 were injured in a large-scale missile and drone attack launched by Russia on Kyiv overnight into Wednesday. According to information reported by Ukrainian media, residential buildings, a school, and numerous warehouses were damaged in the attacks.
The wave of attacks has led to assessments that the temporary ceasefire reportedly reached between Kyiv and Moscow during the visit of U.S. officials over the weekend has effectively come to an end.
Attacks using Russian drones were also carried out in various regions of Ukraine. The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine announced that the Starokozache international road border crossing on the Moldovan border was targeted during the night hours.
Russia attacked the Starokozache international road border crossing on the Moldovan border with attack drones during the night hours.
The service reported that there were deaths and injuries among civilians located near the border crossing and that a fire broke out following the attack. While no details were shared regarding the number of injured, it was announced that the border crossing has been temporarily closed.

AIR DEFENSE ON THE AGENDA
Following the attacks, air defense support took center stage during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's meetings in Norway. In a post made before his meeting with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, Zelenskyy stated, "We will discuss the continuation of support for Ukraine. The main topic will be the strengthening of air defense and assistance in other areas important for getting through the winter."
A statement from Støre's office also noted that Ukraine has a "critical" need for air defense systems and other military support. Zelenskyy had stated earlier in the week that defense against ballistic missiles was a weak point and that he would be in contact with Norway and Canada.
The UK also announced that it has pledged 100 million pounds in support to strengthen Ukraine's air defense capacity this winter. According to the statement, the package includes Patriot missiles and air defense interceptors, large-caliber artillery ammunition, and drone support.
