Red Cross warns on Gaza: Risk of famine!
Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), reported that there is severe food insecurity in Gaza and that the risk of famine in the region is increasing every day.
Chapagain shared a post on the X social media platform regarding the situation in Gaza.
Stating that "there is severe food insecurity in Gaza," Chapagain emphasized that the risk of famine is increasing every day as approximately 80 percent of the population is already facing emergency or catastrophic acute food insecurity conditions.
Citing reports from the Palestine Red Crescent Society, Chapagain stated that more than 1 million children and elderly people in shelters are facing the risk of dehydration, digestive, respiratory, and skin diseases, as well as anemia.
Pointing out that people in Gaza face this painful reality every day, Chapagain reiterated his call for safe and unhindered humanitarian access to facilitate the distribution of vital humanitarian aid.
