TikTok to offer new incentives to content creators: Longer videos mean more money

According to an announcement made by the app on Tuesday, a larger number of content creators on TikTok will soon be able to earn money through subscriptions and longer videos.

According to the platform's statement, the subscription feature, which previously allowed creators to offer monthly subscriptions only for live streams, will be expanded. With the new features, viewers will be able to receive user badges that will appear on their profiles from the creators they subscribe to. Additionally, streamers will be able to actively use a private chat room that will only include paying viewers.

In a newsletter, TikTok stated that the expanded program will also allow creators who do not stream live to earn money from subscriptions. This feature will initially remain exclusive to creators invited to the pilot program, but verified creators who do not stream live will also be able to sign up themselves in the coming weeks.

Furthermore, to support the increase of long-form video content on the app, TikTok's Creativity Program, introduced last year, is planned to exit its beta phase under the name Creator Rewards Program. TikTok stated that the program will reward 'high-quality and original' videos longer than one minute and will evaluate content based on four key areas. These areas will be originality, play duration, search value, and audience engagement.

Since the app began allowing longer videos in 2022, users have embraced longer content. TikTok announced that viewers now spend more than half of their time watching such content.

In the newsletter, it stated, "Longer videos have unlocked a wide range of possibilities for our community, providing creators with additional flexibility to express themselves and embrace creative freedom without limits."

TikTok wrote that total creator revenue under the Creativity Program has increased by more than 250% in the last six months, and the number of creators earning 50,000 dollars per month has nearly doubled.
