TRNC thanks Erdoğan for recognition call at the UN

TRNC Foreign Minister Tahsin Ertuğruloğlu has issued a message of thanks following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's reiteration of his call at the 81st United Nations General Assembly for the official recognition of the TRNC and the lifting of embargoes against the Turkish Cypriot people.

In a statement shared on the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs' X account, Ertuğruloğlu assessed Erdoğan's speech as an indication that the new Cyprus policy, based on a "sovereign equal, two-state solution," is advancing in the international arena.

Ertuğruloğlu noted that for the past 5 years, Erdoğan has continued his call at the UN General Assembly for the recognition of the TRNC, the lifting of "unjust and inhumane" embargoes against the Turkish Cypriot people, and for the international community to develop direct cooperation with the TRNC.

I express my deepest gratitude to President Erdoğan for reiterating his determined stance and historic call at the UN General Assembly over the last 5 years for the official recognition of our state, the TRNC, the immediate lifting of the unjust and inhumane embargoes imposed on the Turkish Cypriot people, and for the international community to develop direct cooperation with the TRNC.

The TRNC Foreign Minister stated that the Turkish Cypriot people will continue to act in "complete unity of thought and action" with the guarantor country, Turkey, in the future as they have in the past.
