Trump and Erdoğan hold meeting
The meeting between Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump, which Trump mentioned at the end of his White House briefing, has taken place.
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call with United States (US) President Donald Trump.
According to the statement made by the Directorate of Communications regarding the call, the leaders discussed bilateral relations between Turkey and the US, as well as regional and global developments.
During the call, President Erdoğan stated that Turkey is closely monitoring developments in Syria and that the unity, solidarity, and territorial integrity of Syria are important to Turkey.
The fight against ISIS and the situation of ISIS members in Syrian prisons were also discussed during the meeting.
President Erdoğan expressed that a peaceful Syria, developed in all its aspects and cleared of terrorism, would contribute to the stability of the region.
Erdoğan noted that efforts to establish peace in Gaza are ongoing and that Turkey will continue to act in coordination with the US on this matter. President Erdoğan thanked US President Trump for the invitation to the Gaza Peace Council.
