Trump expresses support to Netanyahu for Gaza and Lebanon attacks
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump reportedly expressed his support to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for Israel's attacks in Palestine and Lebanon, telling him, "Do what you have to do."
The Washington Post newspaper, citing 6 people familiar with the matter, provided details of phone calls Trump held with Netanyahu this month.
It was noted that Trump stated he had spoken with the Israeli Prime Minister by phone at least twice this month, and in one of those calls, he expressed his support regarding Hamas and Hezbollah by telling him, "Do what you have to do."
South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, who spoke to the WP about the call, stated that Trump did not tell Netanyahu "what to do militarily," but rather expressed his admiration, particularly for the operation involving the detonation of pagers in Lebanon.
"WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A NEW MIDDLE EAST"
Graham said, "He told them, 'do what you have to do to defend yourself,' but we are clearly talking about a new Middle East here. Trump understands that a lot has to change regarding the corrupt Palestinian State."
Trump's campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also argued that there was "historic peace" in the Middle East during the Trump era, claiming that the "progress made" at that time was ruined due to the weakness of the Kamala Harris - Joe Biden administration.
Leavitt stated, "When President Trump returns to the Oval Office, he will fix the chaos created by Kamala and Biden's policies. Israel will be protected once again, Iran will be bankrupt again, terrorists will be hunted down, and the bloodshed will end."
On the other hand, it was noted that the Israeli side refused to comment on the phone calls between Trump and Netanyahu.
