US President Donald Trump maintained ambiguity in his statement regarding potential new attacks on Iran. Responding to reporters' questions while leaving the White House to head to a campaign rally in the state of Michigan, Trump did not provide a clear assessment of when the attacks might end.
When asked by a member of the press, “What about the attacks on Iran? Should we expect them to end soon?” Trump replied, “I don't want to say anything. The answer is no. There will be no attack today.”
In a statement made the day before, when asked whether the US would attack Iran again, Trump had responded, “I might have to go all the way, or maybe they’ll make a deal. I’m not sure. Either way, we win. But I have the possibility of bombing Iran again.”
The latest statement came at a time when uncertainty regarding the tension on the Washington-Tehran line persists. Trump’s remark that there would be no attack today was interpreted as not completely ruling out the possibility of “bombing again,” which he had previously mentioned.
