A search and rescue operation has been launched in Greece after two helicopters responding to forest fires collided.
Two helicopters responding to forest fires in the Greek capital, Athens, have collided in mid-air and crashed.
According to reports in the Greek press, the accident occurred during firefighting operations being carried out against fires affecting different parts of the country. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area to locate the crew following the collision.
According to initial reports, the crew of one of the helicopters was rescued alive. No official statement has yet been made regarding the status of the crew on the other helicopter.
It was reported that search and rescue efforts are ongoing in the region.
