US President Trump announces suspension of Freedom Project

Trump made a statement on his social media account regarding the latest status of the Freedom Project in the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Trump stated the following:

"At the request of Pakistan and other countries, and due to the tremendous military successes we have achieved in our operations against Iran, as well as the significant progress made toward reaching a full and final agreement with Iranian representatives, we have mutually decided to suspend the Freedom Project for a short period to see if the agreement (between the parties) can be finalized and signed, while the blockade remains fully in effect."

As of May 4, Trump had announced that they would begin assisting ships belonging to "neutral" countries that were stranded in the Strait of Hormuz and had no connection to the crisis in the Middle East, and he had named this the "Freedom Project."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had argued in a press briefing at the White House that they had launched an operation called the "Freedom Project" to rescue approximately 23 thousand civilians from 87 different countries in the Gulf region due to Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
