Warning from Iran's Revolutionary Guards to armed groups: 'Iran will become a grave for them'
The Revolutionary Guards have warned armed groups against participating in attacks on Iran, stating that they will respond harshly to the "slightest mistake."
The Ground Forces Command of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has issued a stern warning to armed groups, without naming them, against participating in attacks on the country.
According to the semi-official Fars News Agency, the statement demanded that groups described as "terror elements" not get involved in any attempt to attack Iran. The Revolutionary Guards stated that if these groups make the "slightest mistake," Iran will "turn into a grave" for them.
The statement was released following operational messages from the Iranian military. Brigadier General Mojtaba Jafari, an advisor to the Iranian Army Commander, said in a statement on the same day that Special Forces commandos had carried out 14 ground operations against anti-regime armed groups in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil in northern Iraq.
The Tehran administration views the armed groups, which it states operate particularly in border regions, as a threat to national security. The latest statement is being evaluated as a message that Iran is increasing its military and security measures against these groups.
