'World's 100 Most Powerful Women' list announced

In the "World's 100 Most Powerful Women" list, which Forbes Magazine traditionally determines every year, World Trade Organization (WTO) Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala ranked 87th, being named the most influential African woman in the world.

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan ranked 93rd on the list, while Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu ranked 98th.

Iweala became the first woman and the first African in history to head the World Trade Organization in 2021.

As in the previous year, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen topped the list this year, followed by European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde in second place and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris in third.

The women included in the list, which Forbes magazine has been preparing since 2004, are determined based on criteria such as media visibility and influence over politics and the economy.
