Alcohol interlock in vehicles! The vehicle of an intoxicated driver will not start

The technical requirements for alcohol interlock and lane control systems were announced with the regulation published today in the Official Gazette.

The regulation, which serves as a continuation of the regulation on event data recorder systems that entered into force in 2024, has determined the technical specifications these systems must possess.

NEW SYSTEM WILL MEASURE THE DRIVER'S ALCOHOL LEVEL

According to the new regulation, the alcohol interlock will measure the driver's alcohol level and prevent the vehicle from starting if it is above the determined limit.

The device will operate using a breathalyzer method and will be available in many different models. Systems involving blowing into the key may also be used.

LANE CONTROL SYSTEM WILL ALSO BE MANDATORY IN VEHICLES

In addition to the alcohol interlock, an emergency lane-keeping system has also been made mandatory in vehicles with the regulation. This system will activate in the event of driver distraction or sudden movement, ensuring the vehicle remains in its lane.

INSTALLATION PROCESS BEGINS
