Toyota issues vehicle recall

Toyota is preparing to initiate a recall process covering certain 2026 model electric C-HR vehicles in the US. According to a statement by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the recall affects 8,521 vehicles.

It was stated that the decision was made due to a software error in the vehicles. It was noted that the error in question could cause the battery to overcharge, which could lead to the shutdown of the electric system that powers the vehicle and result in a loss of power.

As part of the recall, the electronic control unit software of the vehicles will be updated. It was reported that Toyota will not charge vehicle owners for this service.

Notifications to vehicle owners are planned to be delivered by October 18, 2026.
