Rock music artist Şebnem Ferah (52) had taken a break from the stage following the pandemic period.

In a written statement last year, Ferah said, "It has been more than 3 years since I last sang with you. I would have believed anything, but I would not have believed that I could go this long without singing. Let's say better late than never..."

'PLEASE GIVE A CONCERT!'

Şebnem Ferah's close friend Ezgi Mola recently called out to the artist, saying, "Please give a concert! Please!"

Most recently, Ferah was spotted on March 10, 2024, at the concert of Pentagram, which has become a symbol of heavy metal music in our country, at the Zorlu PSM Turkcell Stage. Following calls from her friends in the art community and her fans to 'come back,' it has been claimed that she will return to the stage with the arrival of summer.

This development was met with happiness by the artist's fans.

WHO IS ŞEBNEM FERAH?

Turkish rock music artist Şebnem Ferah was born on April 2, 1972, in Yalova, as the youngest of three daughters of a family that migrated from Skopje to Yalova. Şebnem Ferah's interest in music began at the age of 5-6, and her family played a huge role in her introduction to music.

Since almost everyone in Şebnem Ferah's family was involved in music and there were instruments in every corner of the house, she entered the market knowledgeable and prepared. She began taking mandolin and solfège lessons in primary school and also served as a soloist in the school orchestra.

She attended high school as a boarding student at Bursa Private Namık Sözeri High School, and these periods helped Şebnem Ferah get to know herself and stand on her own two feet. Şebnem Ferah's musical life later continued with school orchestras and small groups.

Working with her band "Pegasus" during her high school years but dreaming of an all-girl band, Ferah met Sedat Yıldırım Sarıca thanks to a studio that opened in Bursa in the mid-80s, and she realized this dream with the band "Volvox," which she founded in 1988.

After dropping out of the METU Economics Department in her second year to focus more intensely on music, she came to Istanbul. She enrolled in the Department of English Language and Literature at Istanbul University. She appeared on stage as an opening act with Özlem Tekin at Dr. Skull's retirement concert.

Following the dissolution of the band Volvox in 1994, Şebnem Ferah began her solo work. A new page opened in her musical life with the meeting of Onno Tunç and Sezen Aksu. She has a 3-octave vocal range.

In 1997, for a song prepared for a campaign launched within the scope of the fight against drugs, supported by State Minister Işılay Saygın and the Prime Ministry Family Research Institution, as well as the Raks Education, Culture and Art Foundation, Raksnet, and Genç TV (the song "İnsanca Yaşamak" with lyrics by Hakkı Yalçın and music by Özkan Turgay), she performed alongside 23 artists including Gülşen, Harun Kolçak, Pınar Aylin, Emrah, Ebru Gündeş, Yılmaz Morgül, Emel Sayın, and Levent Yüksel, four pop music groups, a vocal group consisting of football players from Beşiktaş, Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, İstanbulspor, and Zeytinburnuspor, and the 12-person Yücel Elmas Children's Choir.

The song, whose music video was prepared by İzzet Öz, was also released as a CD. In the new version of the song on the CD, Şebnem Ferah performed the song together with Serdar Ortaç.

She took part alongside Ajda Pekkan, Sezen Aksu, Aylin Aslım, Funda Arar, Aynur, Rojin, and Şevval Sam in the concert given on March 8, 2009, at TİM, accompanied by the Enbe Orchestra, for the 'Domestic Violence Emergency Hotline' organized by Hürriyet.
