4-day ban imposed on meetings and protest marches in that province
The Van Governor's Office has announced that protest marches and outdoor meetings have been banned for a period of 4 days.

In a statement issued by the Governor's Office, it was stated that the aim is "to prevent actions and attacks that are assessed to directly and clearly create the conditions for limitation and prohibition stipulated in the Constitution and laws."
The statement, which reported that the goal is "to ensure the safety of life and property of citizens, to thwart the plans of terrorist organizations, and to protect fundamental rights and freedoms as well as the rights and freedoms of others," noted the following:
"Within the borders of Van province, effective from May 16 through May 19, for a period of 4 days, protest marches, outdoor meetings, indoor meetings, press statements, sit-ins, conducting surveys, setting up tents and stands, organizing signature campaigns, distributing leaflets, and all kinds of protest actions to be organized according to the provisions of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 are prohibited in accordance with the relevant articles of the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations No. 2911 and the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
The statement, which also conveyed that the aim is to prevent participation in any kind of unlawful action and activity from districts and surrounding provinces, either individually or collectively, or by using the city's transit routes between the specified dates, included the following expressions:
"A decision has been made not to allow individuals and groups likely to participate in unlawful actions and activities to enter our province and districts, to leave from here individually or collectively, or to use our province's routes for transit to the specified location, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph (C) of Article 11 of the Provincial Administration Law No. 5442."
