5 suspects arrested in connection with fatal neighborhood election brawl in Diyarbakır
Five suspects have been arrested in connection with an armed brawl between two groups over a neighborhood election in the rural Ağaçlıdere neighborhood of Diyarbakır's central Sur district, which resulted in 1 death and 14 injuries.
The investigation initiated by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office continues regarding the armed brawl that broke out between two groups over a neighborhood election on March 31 while voting was underway, which resulted in the death of Emin Çelik and left 14 others injured.
Within the scope of the investigation, 17 of the 22 suspects for whom arrest warrants were issued have been taken into custody by security forces.
Following their processing at the gendarmerie, the 17 suspects were referred to the courthouse, where they appeared before the on-duty magistrate judge. Five of the suspects were arrested, while 12 were released, three of them under judicial control conditions.
The treatment of 3 people injured in the brawl continues in the hospital. Efforts are underway to apprehend the 2 fugitive suspects.
