AKP figure comments on Üsküdar Municipality election results: The will of CHP members was reflected
A statement has come from AKP İstanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir regarding the election for the Deputy Mayor of Üsküdar Municipality.
AKP İstanbul Provincial Chairman Abdullah Özdemir commented on the debates following the Üsküdar Deputy Mayoral election, which his party's candidate won, stating, "We knew very well that the real answer would be reflected in the ballot box as the will of the council members from the AK Party, the Nationalist Movement Party, those who recently joined the AK Party, and even those currently within the Republican People's Party."
Özdemir used the following expressions:
"We have been facing smear campaigns for a week. But we waited patiently. We especially waited for today's result to emerge calmly.
We did not want the issue to escalate and reach a different dimension as they desired by entering into any debate. We knew very well that the real answer would be reflected in the ballot box as the will of the council members from the AK Party, the Nationalist Movement Party, those who recently joined the AK Party, and even those currently within the Republican People's Party," said Özdemir, continuing as follows:
"Look, the numbers are clear; 23 for the People's Alliance, 19 for the Republican People's Party. We especially expect those who have been making noise for a week to place this in their minds as a big question mark.
'Why are Republican People's Party council members uncomfortable with the administration in the Republican People's Party?' 'Why did they display this attitude?' 'Why do Republican People's Party mayors in Istanbul show favor toward the AK Party?' 'Why do they feel compelled to switch to the AK Party to provide service?' 'What is being asked of them, what is expected of them, and what kind of spiral of relationships are they being forced into?' Dear friends, our valued colleagues who have switched from the Republican People's Party to the AK Party have already expressed this repeatedly on television."
Özdemir stated, "From now on, we will always proceed with a mobilization for service. We say it is now time for service in Üsküdar."
