Another mayor to join the AKP along with 15 council members!

The AKP, which suffered a defeat in the local elections on March 31, 2024, has been bringing back many of the provinces and districts it lost by transferring mayors.

Following the participation of 3 members of parliament and 7 mayors in the party during the AKP's 25th anniversary program held on August 14, claims that new participants will join have also come to the agenda.

According to information conveyed from Ankara political circles by journalist Sinan Burhan, who is known for his proximity to the government, it is expected that Çerkezköy Mayor Vahap Akay, who previously resigned from the CHP and has been continuing his duty as an independent, will join the AKP in the coming period.

If 15 municipal council members, along with Vahap Akay, join the AKP, the political distribution in the Çerkezköy Municipal Council is expected to change.

Çerkezköy, which has a population of approximately 240 thousand, is among the prominent industrial centers of Tekirdağ. The district's population also exceeds the population of 30 provinces in Turkey.
