Association for Supporting Contemporary Living responds: 'We will not accept the donation': It was said the proceeds from the vehicles would be given
The Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu administration displayed two vehicles belonging to the Özgür Özel administration in front of the headquarters. The words 'haram vehicle for sale' were written on the vehicles. Following reports in the public domain that the proceeds from the sale of the vehicles would be transferred to the Association for Supporting Contemporary Living (ÇYDD), the ÇYDD announced that it would not accept this donation if it were to be made.
In a statement made on the ÇYDD's social media account, the following expressions were used:
"It has been learned from reports in the press that it is planned to donate to our association the proceeds from certain sales to be carried out by the Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu administration—which was brought to the management of the Republican People's Party through a legally highly controversial preliminary injunction and which accepted this duty despite the reactions of broad segments of the public.
Since its establishment, our association has been a non-governmental organization that defends the rule of law, democracy, and the state of law in line with Atatürk's principles and revolutions, fights for the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and carries out its work in a non-partisan manner.
In accordance with these principles that we have resolutely defended for 37 years, it is not possible for our association to accept any donation from an administration brought to the management of political parties—which are indispensable elements of democratic life, especially the main opposition party—through an intervention in the nature of a trustee, outside of ordinary democratic processes and the will of the party congress."
