Banu Parlak's beauty center was shot at: Dilan Polat and Engin Polat to face trial
As part of the lawsuit filed regarding the shooting at the workplace of singer and beauty center owner Banu Parlak, 11 defendants, including the couple Dilan and Engin Polat, will appear before the judge at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse today.
The beauty center belonging to social media influencer Banu Parlak, located in the Bahçeşehir 1st Section Doğa Park, was shot at by suspects on motorcycles on October 1, 2023, between 02:00 and 04:30.
The trial, in which the couple Dilan and Engin Polat are also requested to be punished for the crime of 'incitement' within the scope of the indictment prepared regarding the incident, will begin today at the Küçükçekmece Courthouse.
"IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME, THE POLAT COUPLE IS RESPONSIBLE" SHE HAD SAID
Banu Parlak had claimed that Dilan Polat and Engin Polat hired a hitman to have her shot, stating, "If anything happens to me, the Polat couple is responsible."
Parlak had said the following;
"My first hostility with Dilan Polat started when I opened my beauty center. She said, 'How can you open a beauty center when I have one?'... Later, the events closed. I thought they were over, but they took money from a young man in the neighborhood where they live and conditioned him to shoot Banu Parlak in order to get this money back under the name of a debt, and the kid didn't do it.
Later, they had the kid put in jail, and when he got out, he was shot in the leg. The kid himself says, 'They told me to shoot Banu Parlak, I didn't. Because of this, they didn't give me my money, and on top of that, they had me shot saying it was from Dilan Polat and Engin Polat.'
I am raising a child on my own and standing tall. What does it mean to want to have a mother shot with a gun? Since I no longer have security of life, if anything happens to me, the ones responsible are Dilan Polat and Engin Polat. It is announced to the public. Justice will do what is necessary. I will keep you all informed about the legal process..."
FROM THE INDICTMENT
In the indictment prepared by the Küçükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was stated that the defendant Dilan Polat sent a threatening message to Banu Parlak in a speech in a video she published on her social media account.
The indictment stated that shortly after this message, with the joint decision made by Dilan and Engin Polat, defendant Engin Polat contacted Beratcan and Batın Can Gökdemir, fugitive leaders of the armed organized crime group known in the public as the "Daltonlar" gang, through his connections in Georgia to organize an armed attack on the complainant's workplace. It was stated in the indictment that the Gökdemir brothers gave instructions to the defendants Batuhan İnci, Yunus Emre Yıldız, Nizamettin Bilgili, Onur Abiç, and İsmail Emre Arifoğlu, who were waiting ready for action in a cell house specially rented in Istanbul.
In the indictment, it was recorded that the workplace was shot at and therefore 4 of the 5 windows on its exterior were changed, and the total damage due to the attack was 45 thousand liras.
Banu Parlak, who filed a complaint after the incident, complained about the Polat family who wanted to have her killed. Dilan Polat, in her statement, defended herself by saying that she did not say the words in the threatening video for Parlak, and that she was speaking generally to those who verbally attacked her.
Defendant Engin Polat, on the other hand, defended himself by saying that he heard about the attack on social media, and that Banu Parlak had made a statement on social media 2 days before the attack and accused them, and that he did not know who did it.
In the indictment, it was requested that the Polat couple be sentenced to a total of 2 years and 4 months to 8 years in prison each for the crimes of "inciting the crime of threat with a weapon by more than one person" and "inciting property damage."
For the defendants Barış Boyun, Beratcan, and Batin Can Gökdemir, for whom arrest warrants were issued, a total of 8 years and 4 months to 23 years in prison were requested for each for the crimes of "establishing an organization for the purpose of committing armed crimes," "threat with a weapon by more than one person," "property damage," and "carrying an unlicensed weapon."
In the indictment, it was requested that the other defendants Batuhan İnci, İsmail Emre Arifoğlu, Nizamettin Bilgili, Onur Abiç, Yunus Emre Yıldız, and Sezgin Polat be sentenced to 2 years and 4 months to 23 years in prison for various crimes.
