AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the General Assembly at the opening of the new legislative year of the TBMM. Erdoğan also made statements regarding the problem experienced in a part of the fund market.
EMPHASIS ON PARLIAMENT
Addressing the deputies on the occasion of the start of the new legislative year, Erdoğan drew attention to the historical role of the TBMM.
Erdoğan said, "I wish the new legislative year to be auspicious for our country, our nation, and our Parliament. The TBMM is the only parliament in the world to have been honored with the title of 'veteran' twice. This Parliament successfully directed and managed the national struggle against those who attempted to put shackles on my nation's feet and a noose around its neck. This Parliament became an example to oppressed nations.
This Parliament was established against the occupiers. On the night of July 15, our veteran Parliament, which defended the nation's trust, passed that difficult test with flying colors together with our nation that resisted the coup."
Making evaluations regarding the work of the Parliament, Erdoğan continued his speech with the following words:
"The TBMM is one of the parliaments with the highest work tempo in the world. Vital laws and critical issues that will shape the future of our country, our nation, and our region have been negotiated. As the ruling party and the People's Alliance, we will continue to act constructively. It is clear that we hold the reputation of the TBMM above all else.
Our primary duty is to serve the nation. We have taken very important steps in every field concerning our country. 3.5 years have passed since the February 6 earthquakes. Today, we are experiencing the peace of mind of getting our 11 provinces back on their feet."
Stating that Turkey continues its development goals despite the wars in the region, Erdoğan also provided information regarding economic data.
Erdoğan said, "Despite the wars in our region, we have managed to keep our country on the path of development. In the first half of 2026, Turkey grew by 2.5 percent annually. Our annualized national income exceeded 1.7 trillion dollars. We broke a record in our exports in August with 280 billion dollars annually."
"WE ARE RESOLVING THIS ISSUE RAPIDLY"
In the final part of his speech, touching upon the fund scandal that has dominated Turkey's agenda, Erdoğan stated that the process is being handled within the framework of capital market rules.
Erdoğan stated, "We are successfully overcoming the problem that has emerged in a certain part of the fund market. Within the framework of capital market rules, we are resolving this issue rapidly, observing the principles of fairness and justice, and ensuring that no one's rights are infringed upon."
