Following the suspension of Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, the municipal council convened to determine an acting mayor.
In the municipal council, 27 members from the CHP and a total of 17 members from the AKP and MHP are casting votes. The CHP nominated Sibel Tan Çetinkaya for the acting mayorship, while the AKP's candidate was Dündar Ziya Gültekin.
NO RESULT IN THE FIRST ROUND
In the election for acting mayor, a candidate must receive 31 votes to be elected in the first two rounds. If this majority is not achieved, 24 votes will be sufficient in the third round. If no result is obtained in the third round, the candidate with the most votes in the fourth round will be elected acting mayor. If there is a tie in the fourth round, the election will be decided by drawing lots.
FIRST ROUND VOTE DISTRIBUTION
In the first round of the election, CHP candidate Sibel Tan Çetinkaya received 26 votes. AKP candidate Dündar Ziya Gültekin received 16 votes, while 2 votes were declared invalid.
With this result, since no candidate reached the required 31 votes in the first round, the election will continue with subsequent rounds.
NO RESULT IN THE SECOND ROUND EITHER
In the second round of the acting mayor election, none of the candidates reached the absolute majority required to be elected.
In the second round, where 44 council members voted, 42 votes were valid and 2 were declared invalid. CHP candidate Sibel Tan Çetinkaya received 26 votes, while AKP candidate Dündar Ziya Gültekin received 16 votes.

In the third round of the election, no candidate reached the majority required to be elected.
In the third round, CHP candidate Sibel Tan Çetinkaya received 21 votes, while AKP candidate Dündar Ziya Gültekin received 18 votes. 5 votes were declared invalid in the voting.
In the final round, where 27 CHP, 14 AKP, and 3 MHP council members voted, the vote count for AKP candidate Gültekin increased.
"THIS DISHONESTY IS UNACCEPTABLE"
A brief tension occurred in the council chamber following the third round of voting. Allegations were raised from the CHP benches that 6 CHP council members had voted for the AKP candidate Dündar Ziya Gültekin in the third round.
Upon this, some CHP council members reacted to the situation with the words, "This is dishonesty, it is unacceptable."
