Cleaning worker finds body: Investigation launched

An incident that occurred during routine morning cleaning in Istanbul's Beyoğlu district caused brief panic in the neighborhood. On the morning of July 27, municipal cleaning staff working in the Fetihtepe neighborhood noticed a person lying face down in the gap between a sidewalk and a building. The 112 Emergency Call Center was immediately notified, and health and police teams were dispatched to the scene.

During the initial intervention by the responding teams, it was determined that the motionless individual was 57-year-old Ertan Tunca and that he had lost his life. Initial findings indicated that Tunca's neck was broken as a result of a fall from a height; no signs of assault or any sharp or blunt force trauma were found on his body. Experts noted that the death may have occurred late at night.

With the examination of security camera footage, some details regarding the moments leading up to the incident also came to light. The footage captured moments showing Ertan Tunca, who was alleged to be intoxicated, walking with difficulty on the street and struggling to maintain his balance.

Following the work of the public prosecutor and crime scene investigation teams in the area, Tunca's body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute to determine the exact cause of death. The police announced that the incident is being investigated as a suspicious death. It was also learned that Ertan Tunca had three prior records for various offenses, including "endangering traffic safety" and "property damage."

It was stated that the investigation into the incident is continuing from multiple angles and that the process of taking statements from witnesses in the vicinity is ongoing.
