Content of Diyanet's Friday Sermon revealed amid 'Framework Law' agenda: Our future depends on our brotherhood

In the sermon, which references surahs on the themes of brotherhood and unity, it was stated: "What falls to us today is to act with foresight against sedition and with a consciousness of unity against division, and to protect and look out for one another.

To stay away from anything that could damage our brotherhood and to lighten each other's burdens.

To gather around our national and spiritual values; to not forget that there is mercy in unity and torment in separation," were the expressions used. 

The full text of the "Brotherhood" Friday Sermon published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs is as follows: 

"Respected Muslims!

The fundamental goal of our sublime religion, Islam, is to ensure the peace and happiness of humanity both in this world and in the eternal realm. The way to ensure peace and happiness is through being brothers and sisters and further strengthening the love and affection between us. So much so that our Prophet (pbuh), the Messenger of Mercy, expressed loving one another as a requirement of having faith.

Dear Believers!

In a period when wars are spreading to different regions, blood and tears prevail in the Islamic geography, and our country is being pulled into a ring of fire; our future depends on our brotherhood. In our heavenly homeland, which our ancestors entrusted to us by sacrificing their lives; our joys, our sorrows, our prayers, and our differences, which we accept as wealth, will make us one body.

Valuable Muslims!

Just as in the past, there will be those today who covet our brotherhood, who target our affection, and who want to turn us against each other. Let us not forget that as long as we are not in a state of heedlessness, the ambitions of our enemies will remain unfulfilled, as we are the hope not only of Muslims but of all oppressed people. In accordance with the command of the Almighty, 'Hold fast to the rope of Allah all together and do not be divided,' if we remain attached to our religion and our sacred values, the fire of sedition and corruption will not be able to touch us. If we heed the call of the Prophet of Mercy (pbuh), 'Do not cut off ties with one another, do not turn your backs on one another, do not harbor hatred for one another, do not envy one another. O servants of Allah! Be brothers,' then separation and discord will find no place in these lands. If we act according to the divine command, 'The believers are but brothers, so make peace between your brothers and fear Allah that you may receive mercy,' no one will be able to destroy the stability of our homeland and the unity of the Ummah.

We all know that; 'An enemy cannot enter a nation until division enters it. As long as hearts beat together, cannons cannot subdue it.'

What falls to us today is to act with foresight against sedition and with a consciousness of unity against division, and to protect and look out for one another. To stay away from anything that could damage our brotherhood and to lighten each other's burdens. To gather around our national and spiritual values; to not forget that there is mercy in unity and torment in separation.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters!

When we hold onto our own faith and civilizational roots, and when we lock onto each other like the bricks of a building, our tomorrows will be more peaceful. We conclude our sermon with this warning from our Almighty Lord: 'And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and thus lose courage and your strength would depart. And be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient.'"
