Ekrem İmamoğlu reacts to lawyer's arrest: 'You are afraid, may those who fear you be like you'

İmamoğlu's lawyer, Mehmet Pehlivan, was arrested on charges of 'being a member of a criminal organization,' a decision that drew reactions from numerous figures. While CHP Chairman Özgür Özel reacted to the arrest decision with the words 'shame on you,' a striking post also came from Ekrem İmamoğlu.

İmamoğlu criticized the arrest decision with the following words:

"You are afraid of my image,

You are afraid of my voice,

You are afraid of my words,

You are afraid of my name being mentioned…

But I never thought you would be afraid of me defending myself, of me using my right to defense at some point.

As you fail to make the nation believe your lies, you become even more aggressive. You are becoming so desperate that you are arresting my lawyer.

The more you struggle in the dark vortex you have entered and dragged the country into, the more you flounder.

All you have left in your hands is a handful of slanderers whom you threaten with their children, their property, their honor, and their dignity.

No matter what you do, you will not be able to make me bow down. You will not be able to bring this nation to its knees.

May those who fear you be like you."
