Erdoğan's 'Rome' criticism of İmamoğlu: 'No one should take offense...'
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan reacted to the Rome trip taken by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu with journalists, stating, "No one should take offense, but there can be no justifiable reason for taking members of the press on a tour of Rome by private jet at the expense of the public."
AKP Chairman and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements at the 162nd-anniversary event of the Court of Accounts.
In his speech there, Erdoğan criticized İBB Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu without mentioning him by name.
"THERE CAN BE NO JUSTIFIABLE REASON"
Reacting to İmamoğlu's visit to Rome, Erdoğan said, "No one should take offense, but there can be no justifiable reason for taking members of the press on a tour of Rome by private jet at the expense of the public. In this regard, all appointed or elected officials must act more carefully and sensitively, and must show care for public property."
Speaking about the new constitution efforts, Erdoğan also stated, "A return to the old system is a polemic. We believe that this polemic will not be of any benefit to the country or the nation. Instead of longing for the past, it is essential that we look ahead and focus on the future."
