Exodus from CHP continues: Another mayor joins the YENİ Party
Defne Mayor Halil İbrahim Özgün has announced his decision to leave the CHP. Stating that he will continue his political journey under the YENİ Party, Özgün noted that he made his decision after taking the views of his constituents into account.
Defne Mayor Halil İbrahim Özgün has announced his resignation from the Republican People's Party (CHP) and that he will continue his political life in the YENİ Party.
Sharing his decision with the public, Özgün stated that following the establishment of the YENİ Party, he had been receiving intense questions from his voters and the party base regarding what path he would follow in the future.

Touching upon the reasoning behind his decision in his statement, Özgün used the following expressions:
“Following the establishment of the YENİ Party by our Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, we have been receiving very frequent questions from our base and our voters, even if individually, regarding what we will do. For this reason, I felt the need to make a statement. I respectfully inform the public that I, as Halil İbrahim Özgün, will continue my political life in the YENİ Party. In accordance with our belief in both democracy and participatory democracy, I respectfully announce to the public that we will continue on this path by listening to the voices of our base, our voters, and our community.”
