First statement from Tunç Soyer after being detained: Rest assured that

The new destination for operations targeting CHP-run municipalities has this time been İzmir.

Former İzmir Mayor and numerous CHP figures have been detained.

Tunç Soyer made a post on his social media account late at night through his lawyer daughter.

Soyer used the following expressions:

"Dear friends, unfortunately, I am addressing you from detention through my lawyer daughter. 

I have no sorrow other than the sadness of my loved ones and those who love me. 

Rest assured that; my conscience is clear, my head is held high, and rest assured that we have done nothing that would make you bow your heads in shame. 

I wish my bureaucrat colleagues, whom I am proud of, and their families well, and I ask them to stand tall and be patient. 

No matter what you do, the shadow of the darkness you are trying to grow in Turkey will not fall upon İzmir!

Our struggle will continue to grow stronger as always."
