Alarming 'earthquake' statement from expert! 'It could happen at any moment'

Earthquake expert Ahmet Ercan revealed the reality of earthquakes in Turkey with figures, warning of a major risk.

According to Ercan's statement, a large number of small and medium-scale earthquakes occur in Turkey every year. While these earthquakes represent the release of energy along fault lines, they can occasionally cause loss of life and property.

Ercan provided the following information regarding the timing and magnitudes of earthquakes in Turkey:

A very large earthquake (M>7.2) every 10-12 years,

A major earthquake (M>6.5) every 5-6 years,

A medium-sized earthquake (M>5.5) every 2-3 years,

1-2 medium-small earthquakes (M>5) every year,

10-20 small earthquakes (M>4),

Hundreds of micro-earthquakes (M<4)

WHEN WILL THE MAJOR EARTHQUAKE HAPPEN IN ISTANBUL?

Ercan responded to a social media user's comment, "So that means there are 10 years left for the Istanbul earthquake," by saying, "Istanbul does not mean Turkey." Earthquake scientists hold different views regarding the opinion that an Istanbul earthquake will occur in the near future.

Ercan had previously criticized experts who said "an earthquake could happen in Istanbul at any moment," and his remarks brought Prof. Dr. Naci Görür to mind.

Geoscientist Görür, in statements he made in recent days, warned of a 7.5 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul, saying, "We are already expecting an earthquake on this branch within the Sea of Marmara. We are expecting an earthquake on two branches here; one is the Adalar Fault located south of the Princes' Islands; the other is the fault we call the Kumburgaz Fault, which extends from off the coast of Silivri to the Central Marmara. These faults are already locked faults at the moment, and they are accumulating stress."
