Another shock for Çerçioğlu, who defected to the AKP! She caused losses for both herself and the ruling party

A survey conducted by HBS Research in Aydın has revealed that Aydın Metropolitan Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu, who switched from the CHP to the AKP, has led to an unexpected outcome for the ruling party.

While Çerçioğlu held a 50 percent vote share while wearing the CHP badge, her transition to the AKP caused both her own support and the AKP's vote share in Aydın to drop to the 30 percent range.

According to the HBS Research survey, Özlem Çerçioğlu's support rate in Aydın fell to the 30 percent level after she switched from the CHP to the AKP. 

In the March 31, 2024 Local Elections, the CHP received 50 percent of the vote, while the AKP received 36 percent. Following Çerçioğlu's move to the AKP, citizens expressed their reactions by saying, "We gave our vote to the CHP."

Özlem Çerçioğlu's appropriation of social service projects in Aydın has also sparked significant controversy. 

During a recent visit by Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş to the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality, Çerçioğlu's attempt to claim the "City Restaurant" project—originally initiated by Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu—as her own work drew widespread attention on social media.
