Controversial post from partner of Grand Hotel where fire tragedy occurred! Account closed

78 citizens lost their lives as a result of a fire that broke out at the Grand Kartal Hotel, located at the ski resort in Bolu Kartalkaya.

While 11 people were taken into custody as part of the investigation launched into the tragedy, which involved a chain of negligence, Ceyda Hacıbekiroğlu, one of the hotel's partners, made a controversial post on her personal social media account.

"WE WERE THERE TOO. OUR PAIN IS IMMENSE. WE EXPECT SENSITIVITY"

In her first post, Hacıbekiroğlu stated, "As hotel owners, we were there too. We experienced this with our children. I broke the window to get onto the roof and got my children out that way. When I got out, my hands were covered in blood and glass. My sisters got their daughters out through the smoke. My mother also survived by getting onto the roof. We also have friends we lost. Our pain is immense. We expect sensitivity from everyone. Our condolences..."

Hacıbekiroğlu drew backlash for her statement regarding the debates over the fire escapes at the hotel.

Stating that there were 2 fire escapes at the hotel, Hacıbekiroğlu noted the following:

"Finally; there is a fire escape. There are 2 of them. Of course, this fire escape is not made of wood! However, because the fire and smoke were coming from the corridor, we could not open the room door! Smoke was coming from under the door, how could it be possible to run into the corridor!

Everyone who knows us as a family knows that we would do anything to prevent harm to a single life. There are also friends of mine who survived. I also have a friend I lost who was staying on the same floor. We have children who were affected and experienced this painful event together. Thank you for your sensitivity. Our condolences."

Hacıbekiroğlu's post was met with backlash. She subsequently closed her account.
