The banner that angered Özlem Çerçioğlu! She wanted it removed

The October ordinary meeting of the Aydın Metropolitan Municipal Council was held under extraordinary security measures. More than 100 police officers were sent to the municipal building before and during the meeting.

Security teams surrounded the municipal building with barriers. Some of the police officers were positioned inside and outside the council chamber. During the meeting, some police officers waited in the corners of the hall, while others lined up in the stairwells to form a security line between the party groups.

BANNER TENSION STARTED IN KUŞADASI

The tension took on a new dimension the next day in Kuşadası. Banners reading "End to zoning rent in Aydın" were hung on municipal billboards by Kuşadası Mayor Ömer Günel.

It was stated that the banners were financed by Günel from his personal budget. However, these banners drew the reaction of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.

Technical affairs and municipal police teams affiliated with the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality were sent to the district to remove the banners in question. A crane vehicle was also dispatched to the area along with the teams.

However, Kuşadası Municipality personnel objected, saying, "These billboards belong to the Kuşadası Municipality, you do not have the authority to intervene." A brief argument took place between the officials from the two municipalities. Police teams also arrived at the scene. After the argument, the Aydın Metropolitan Municipality personnel left the area without intervening in the banners.

Following these developments, a press statement was held at the CHP Aydın Provincial Headquarters. The statement was attended by CHP Aydın Deputies Bülent Tezcan, Süleyman Bülbül, and Evrim Karakoz, as well as CHP Provincial Chairman Hikmet Saatçı, district mayors, Provincial Women's Branch President Ayşe Özdemir, Provincial Youth Branch President Ufuk Gündoğdu, and numerous party members.

Speaking at the meeting, CHP Aydın Deputy Bülent Tezcan reacted to the security measures taken at the last metropolitan council meeting. Tezcan criticized the fact that the council meeting was held under a police blockade and opposed the stance of Aydın Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Özlem Çerçioğlu.
