Gülistan Doku murder: Arrested Memet Aca's social media posts with Sonel and AKP figures under scrutiny

Memet Aca, the owner of Aca Bilişim, where Gökhan Ertok—who is alleged to have performed digital operations on Gülistan Doku's phone and deleted data alongside the wife of former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel—worked, has been arrested. Following his interrogation by the prosecutor's office and the court, a detention order was issued for Aca on charges of "inciting the corruption or destruction of data in an information system" and "inciting the destruction, concealment, or alteration of criminal evidence."

Testifying as part of the investigation, Aca claimed that he did not have a close relationship with former Tunceli Governor Tuncay Sonel and that they were merely friends. He stated that Sonel would send him photos and information regarding the services he performed, and that he would then forward these to relevant individuals.

However, as reported by Sol Haber, it was noted that there were a total of 63 phone calls between Aca and Sonel, and numerous photos of them together continue to appear on social media accounts.

USED TERMS LIKE "VALUED FRIEND" AND "MASTER"

According to the information in the report, the relationship between Memet Aca and Tuncay Sonel dates back to before Sonel took office as the Governor of Tunceli.

It was observed that Sonel shared photos taken with Memet Aca at the Kuşcenneti National Park on August 4, 2016, on his social media account. In the posts, he used the terms "my valued friend" and "my master" for Aca.

THEY ALSO SHARED THE MEETING IN KADIKÖY

It was stated that on December 22, 2016, Tuncay Sonel hosted four people along with Memet Aca in Kadıköy, Istanbul. It was noted that in a comment Aca made on the post following the visit, he used the phrases, "Thank you very much for your hospitality, man of heart, good friend."

ELAZIĞ GOVERNOR ALSO CALLED HIM "VALUED FRIEND"

The report stated that one of the names who addressed Memet Aca as "my valued friend" was Çetin Oktay Kaldırım, who served as the Governor of Elazığ between 2017 and 2020.

In his post dated October 17, 2017, it was noted that Kaldırım announced he had hosted Aca in his office, stating, "Today we hosted my valued friend, the philanthropist businessman Memet Aca. We strengthened the Dadaş-Gakgoş brotherhood."

VISITED WITH GÜLPINAR

It was stated that on March 12, 2018, Memet Aca visited Elazığ Governor Çetin Oktay Kaldırım together with AKP Şanlıurfa Deputy Mehmet Kasım Gülpınar. It was noted that the photo regarding the visit continues to be featured on the Elazığ Governor's Office social media accounts.

THANK YOU MESSAGE AT ELAZIĞSPOR DINNER

It was stated that on July 23, 2018, Memet Aca hosted a dinner for the Elazığspor management and players, and the club made a post regarding this event.

It was reported that Governor Kaldırım also quoted this post, stating, "I thank my valued friend, businessman Mr. Memet Aca, who hosted a dinner in honor of our Elazığspor this evening."

PHOTOGRAPHED AT THE AKP GROUP MEETING

The report stated that Memet Aca also appeared at many events with İbrahim Aydemir, the AKP's 25th, 26th, and 27th Term Erzurum Deputy.

In an Instagram post dated February 28, 2017, it was stated that Aydemir shared a photo taken with Memet Aca at the AKP Group Meeting.

THEY ATTENDED VEYSEL EROĞLU'S PROGRAM TOGETHER

It was reported that Memet Aca and İbrahim Aydemir were together at the Tunceli program of former Minister of Forestry and Water Affairs Veysel Eroğlu that same year.

In Tuncay Sonel's post dated August 16, 2017, it was noted that he used the words, "Thanks to our valued friends, our Erzurum Deputy Mr. İbrahim Aydemir and Memet Aca, who accompanied our Minister Mr. Veysel Eroğlu's Tunceli program."

POST AT KARAKOÇ'S GRAVE

The report also included information that İbrahim Aydemir visited the grave of poet Abdurrahim Karakoç with Memet Aca on June 7, 2017.

Following this visit, it was reported that Memet Aca made the post, "Your path is our path, my beautiful-hearted and exemplary friend. You will never walk alone on this path; we are with you not just until the market, but until the grave."

THEY WERE TOGETHER AT THE RESTAURANT OPENING

It was stated that on February 24, 2018, İbrahim Aydemir also attended the opening of a restaurant that Memet Aca opened in Erzurum in partnership with AKP member Saffan Ağyürek.

According to the report, Aydemir referred to Memet Aca as "my brother" in his post.

THEY MET AT A WEDDING A WEEK LATER

It was reported that about a week after the restaurant opening, Memet Aca and İbrahim Aydemir met this time at the wedding of the son of Maltepe Erzurum Residents Foundation President Süha Dengizek.

In his post dated October 12, 2017, it was noted that Torunoğlu used the phrases, "We love you, my big brother with a beautiful heart and beautiful self. May God clear your path and make your friendship eternal."

RESPONSES CAME FROM AKP OFFICIALS

The report also recalled the responses given by AKP officials of the period to Memet Aca's social media posts from March 25-26, 2013, which he later deleted.

Accordingly, Ali İhsan Yavuz responded to Aca's post with "Thank you very much," Mustafa Şentop with "Likewise Mehmet," and Mustafa Ataş with "Thank you. Hope to see you again."

SEDAT PEKER AND LAWYER CONNECTION

The report also included previously raised allegations regarding Memet Aca's relationship with Sedat Peker. Allegations that Aca had video calls with Peker and used this to intimidate his employees were recalled.

On the other hand, it was stated that Ersan Barkın, who is also mentioned as the lawyer for Memet Aca—who supported the victim's family in the sexual assault case heard in the Hınıs district of Erzurum—intervened in the case.

In some news reports regarding the case, it was noted that the phrase "Attorney Ersan Barkın, one of Turkey's leading names who is also the lawyer for Sedat Peker and Erzurum's well-known businessman Mehmet Aca" was used for Barkın.
