An elevator accident occurred during the night at the KYK Güzelhisar Girls' Dormitory in the Işıklı neighborhood of Aydın's Efeler district.

Panicked as the elevator began to move, Zeren Ertaş, a 4th-year student at Adnan Menderes University's Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, attempted to exit the moving elevator and became trapped between the wall and the elevator car. Medical teams arriving at the scene determined that Zeren Ertaş had lost her life.
