Heavy downpour alert in Marmara

According to the latest forecasts from the Turkish State Meteorological Service (MGM) for Friday, October 23, showers and thunderstorms will be effective in the northern and western parts of Turkey. The provinces highlighted in the warning are Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, and the western parts of Çanakkale.

MGM reported that rainfall in these regions will be locally heavy, with 21 to 50 kilograms of precipitation per square meter expected. Citizens are urged to be cautious and take precautions against risks such as flash floods, inundation, lightning, and disruptions to transportation.

SHOWERS IN ISTANBUL, FOG IN SOME REGIONS

Partly to very cloudy weather is expected in Istanbul throughout the day. While showers and thunderstorms are forecast for the city, the highest temperature is expected to be 21 degrees.

Haze and occasional fog will be effective across the Marmara region during the morning and night hours. Drivers, in particular, need to be careful during hours when visibility may decrease. Temperatures are expected to reach 24 degrees in Bursa, and 19 degrees in Çanakkale and Kırklareli.

The rainy weather is expected to show its effect in the north and west of Marmara, the Western Black Sea, and the North Aegean coasts. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms on the North Aegean coasts and in the northern districts of İzmir.

Haze and fog may be seen in the inner parts of the Aegean and Central Anatolia during the morning and night hours. The highest temperature is estimated to be 22 degrees in Ankara, Eskişehir, and Konya; 27 degrees in İzmir; 26 degrees in Denizli; and 22 degrees in Muğla.

While partly cloudy and clear weather stands out in the Mediterranean, temperatures in Adana and Antalya are expected to rise to 30 degrees. No precipitation is expected in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia in general; temperatures are forecast to be 25 degrees in Diyarbakır and Gaziantep, and 27 degrees in Şanlıurfa.

It was reported that rainy weather will be effective in the Western Black Sea starting from the evening hours, with showers possible in Bolu and Zonguldak after the evening, and in Kastamonu and Sinop after the night hours. The Meteorological Service also announced that no storms are expected at sea.
