Heavy rainfall paralyzes life in Istanbul
Heavy rain, which has been effective in Istanbul since the morning hours, disrupted transportation in the city. Drivers faced difficult moments in traffic as the underpass in Zincirlikuyu became submerged. Teams are continuing drainage efforts.
Following the warnings issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology, the heavy rainfall that began in Istanbul in a short time has negatively affected life in the city. As the intensity of the downpour increased, especially as noon approached, the water accumulated in the underpass at the location of the Zincirlikuyu Cemetery caused difficult moments for drivers.
The rain, which has been intermittent since the night, caused the water level in the underpass towards Nispetiye Street to rise rapidly. Vehicles passing through the road since the morning hours struggled to move at times, and drivers fought to make progress.
Following reports of traffic disruptions caused by the water puddles, fire department and municipal teams were dispatched to the scene. Teams in the area have begun their efforts to drain the water collected in the underpass.
