Following a report of a body seen in the sea off the coast of Silivri on September 14 at approximately 13:15, Coast Guard teams were dispatched to the region. The body, recovered from the water by the teams, was brought to Silivri Port.
During the initial examination, identification could not be made due to irritation and decomposition caused by being in the water for a long time. The body was sent to the Council of Forensic Medicine to determine the exact cause of death and confirm the identity.
Following the investigations, it was determined that the body belonged to Yaşar Kayhan, the captain of the ship that sank off the coast of Silivri.
