Doruk Madencilik workers, who are demanding their unpaid wages and severance pay, completed the march they started from Eskişehir on April 13 in Ankara. The protest, led by the Independent Mine Workers' Union (Bağımsız Maden-İş), lasted 9 days.

INTERVENTION IN FRONT OF THE MINISTRY

Police teams intervened against the workers as they advanced toward the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources in the capital. After the intervention, the miners, who were allowed to continue their march after a while, reached the front of the ministry building.

HUNGER STRIKE STARTED

The workers gathered in front of the ministry took off their shirts and announced that they were starting a sit-in and a hunger strike with the words, "We are hungry, we are poor, we are naked."

110 MINERS IN DETENTION

In a statement made by the Independent Mine Workers' Union, it was reported that a total of 110 miners were detained during the protest process. The following statements were included in the announcement made on the union's social media account:

"110 miners were detained!

While we were waiting to find someone to address our concerns in front of the Ministry of Energy, the response was the detention of 110 of our friends. We are miners, we are not intimidated by detentions; we will get out and continue from where we left off. We said it before: We came to Ankara with our shrouds, we are here!"
