The investigation continues into the armed attack in Afyonkarahisar that left 8 people dead and 1 person seriously injured.
It has been learned that the suspect of the attack, which took place in the İhsaniye district and surrounding villages, Arif Sefa Ö., divorced his wife about 2 years ago, is a father of one, and worked as a farmer.
According to the information obtained, the incident began when the suspect opened fire with a pump-action shotgun at S.P., who was trying to get into his vehicle after leaving his home in the Orhangazi neighborhood in the city center in the evening hours. It was reported that S.P.'s medical condition remains critical.
It was stated that Arif Sefa Ö., who then got into his own vehicle, opened fire on people in moving vehicles in the villages of Yukarıtandır, Ayazini, and Kıyır in the İhsaniye district. Ahmet Uzel (57), Bekir Toprak (50), Noman Toprak (56), Seydi Ahmet Aydoğmuş (73), Satı Aydoğmuş (68), İsmail Şen (61), Hilal Mete (31), and Ayşe Sena Demir (46) lost their lives in the attacks.
It was reported that the suspect lived in the Bozüyük village of the İhsaniye district and made a living through farming. While no official statement has been made regarding why the attack was carried out, the motive for the incident has not yet been clarified.
The bodies of the 8 people who lost their lives were taken to the morgue of the Afyonkarahisar State Hospital Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy procedures. It was learned that the investigation is being conducted by 3 public prosecutors under the coordination of the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
It was reported that the captured suspect, Arif Sefa Ö., will be taken to the Afyonkarahisar Provincial Gendarmerie Command. Meanwhile, the relatives of those who lost their lives are waiting in front of the hospital for the autopsy procedures to be completed.
