Iron piece falls on 1 worker at tunnel construction site in Gaziantep
A piece that fell from an iron scaffold in the intermediate mold at the Dülük-OSB Tunnel construction site struck a worker. Fatma Şahin announced that there was no collapse in the tunnel.
One worker was injured in an incident at the Dülük-OSB Tunnel construction site, which is currently under construction to ease urban traffic in Gaziantep.
It was reported that a piece fell for an as-yet-undetermined reason from an iron scaffold in the intermediate mold set up during tunnel excavation at the construction site near the central Sam neighborhood. The piece struck a worker employed at the site.
Upon notification, ambulance, fire, search and rescue, and police teams were dispatched to the area. The injured worker was taken to the hospital after receiving initial intervention from medical teams.
Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Fatma Şahin stated in a post on her social media account that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. Şahin expressed that the health status of the injured worker is being monitored and wished them a speedy recovery.
Regarding claims that a collapse occurred in the tunnel, Şahin stated, "There is absolutely no collapse, cave-in, or shifting in the tunnel whatsoever."
