Judicial proceedings initiated against 2,479 suspects in 'Streets are Safe' operations

Judicial proceedings have been initiated against 2,479 suspects in the "Streets are Safe" operations, which were carried out simultaneously across the country as part of the fight against new-generation criminal organizations.

The efforts, coordinated by the Department of Organized, Narcotic, and Economic Crimes of the General Directorate of Criminal Affairs, aimed to uncover the structures of criminal organizations, cut off their financial resources, and obstruct their logistical capabilities.

In 151 operations conducted within the scope of investigations led by 79 Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, criminal charges such as establishing an organization for the purpose of committing crimes, drug trafficking, robbery, threats, blackmail, qualified fraud, usury, smuggling, laundering assets derived from crime, unlicensed arms trafficking, and illegal betting were examined.

1,028 SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Arrest warrants were issued for 1,028 of the suspects processed during the operations. While 502 suspects were released under judicial control conditions, arrest procedures were applied to 423 individuals. 323 suspects were released.

Within the scope of the investigations, not only the field activities of the criminal organizations but also their hierarchical structures, communication networks, financial resources, propaganda activities conducted via social media, and methods of recruiting members were placed under scrutiny.

Seizure measures were applied to 35 real estate properties, 31 vehicles, 10 companies, and 408 bank accounts during the operations. It was reported that the total value of the assets subject to seizure measures is 65 million 865 thousand TL, and the total transaction volume identified in the documents reached approximately 26 billion 920 million 983 thousand 360 TL.

During the searches, 199 firearms, 135 magazines, 9 thousand 39 cartridges, 2 hand grenades, narcotic substances, and a large number of digital materials were seized. Additionally, 1 million 995 thousand 835 TL, 20 thousand 40 dollars, 22 thousand 535 euros, 857 grams of gold, and checks were taken into custody.

It was stated that the primary goal of the efforts is to eliminate the capacity of criminal organizations to establish power and dominance on the streets, cut off their economic resources, and collapse their digital and logistical infrastructure. It was also expressed that efforts are being made to combat attempts to bring children and young people under the influence of criminal organizations through social media and digital platforms.
