Man who went to help his ex-wife killed
In Istanbul's Avcılar district, Mehmet Karakoç was shot and killed after arguing with a man who allegedly harassed his ex-wife. While Karakoç's ex-wife was taken to the hospital with injuries, the suspect, Ayhan Buldur, was apprehended with his weapon.
Neslihan Ö., who lives in Avcılar, applied to the prosecutor's office and obtained a restraining order on the grounds that she was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend Ayhan Buldur (40). However, Buldur allegedly continued to harass Neslihan Ö. Upon this, Neslihan Ö. asked for help from her ex-husband Mehmet Karakoç.
Last night (05.02.2024), Mehmet Karakoç went to the cafe operated by Buldur in the Firüzköy neighborhood and began to argue with him.
During the argument, Buldur was injured with a knife, while Karakoç was shot in the armpit with a firearm. Neslihan Ö. was also injured during the fight.
Police officers patrolling the area where the incident took place noticed Karakoç lying motionless on the ground in front of the cafe and notified medical teams. In their search of the surrounding area, police teams found the injured Neslihan Ö. and Buldur walking on the street. The individuals were transported to the hospital. Buldur was taken into custody following his treatment. Mehmet Karakoç, however, lost his life at the hospital where he was taken.
The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
