New development regarding the burning of the Zafer Party tent
A campaign tent belonging to the Zafer Party in Kartal, Istanbul, was set on fire by unidentified individuals yesterday evening. No one was injured in the attack. One person has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The fire occurred at around 21:30 at the Zafer Party campaign tent located in the Yunus Emre neighborhood. According to allegations, unidentified individuals threw a Molotov cocktail at the tent, set it on fire, and fled the scene.
Upon reports from citizens in the vicinity, police and fire department teams were dispatched to the scene.
No injuries occurred in the fire, which was extinguished in a short time.
TAKEN INTO CUSTODY
Police teams examined security camera footage and pursued the suspects. As a result of the efforts, 1 person who carried out the incident was caught and taken into custody. The identity of the person taken into custody and the motives behind the incident have not yet been clarified.
Zafer Party Chairman Ümit Özdağ reacted harshly to the attack.
In a statement made on his social media account, Özdağ said, "Our campaign stand in Kartal was set on fire. We condemn this attack and demand that the perpetrators be caught as soon as possible."
