Number of tourists declined in May
The number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey in May 2025 decreased by 1.81 percent compared to the same period last year.
According to provisional data obtained by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism from the General Directorate of Security, the number of foreign tourists arriving in Turkey in May 2025 decreased by 1.81 percent compared to the same month last year, recorded at 5,037,447.
In the ranking of provinces receiving the highest number of foreign visitors in May, Antalya ranked first with 34.83 percent. Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 33.12 percent, Muğla with 8.46 percent, Edirne with 6.95 percent, and İzmir with 3.05 percent.
In the January-May 2025 period, the number of foreign tourists visiting Turkey decreased by 0.99 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 15,627,456.
The provinces that attracted the most visitors during this period were determined to be Istanbul, Antalya, Edirne, Muğla, and Artvin, respectively. While Istanbul was the province that attracted the most tourists with 44.82 percent, Antalya ranked second with 22.86 percent.
